Remix the Cinema is a “live cinema” project created by Action 30 (Luca Acito and Alberto Casati) in which cinema is transcoded into an engaging live performance through the practice of visual and sound remix. Remix the Cinema focuses mainly on silent films, especially those of the 1920s.
Masterpieces as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Wiene, The Passion of Joan of Arc by Dryer, Häxan by Christensen and The Blood of a Poet by Cocteau are remixed and summarised in a fifteen-minute “live performance” in which the filmic units are broken up, delinearized, and recomposed according to the logics of attraction and to the inter-medial synergy between pictures and music.
